GO PAT This CD is a great one to start your Pat Green or just Texas Country music collection, because Pat is so much better live than in a studio (although he is still pretty awesome). The only thing that I don't like is that I heard the faster version of "Here We Go" on Live at Billy Bob's and I can't adjust to the slower version, so I suggest getting this before Billy Bob's.
You wish you were sitting in Gruene Hall with Shiner in your hand. I'm not particularly fond of live albums, but this one is nice. It has most of his best stuff, and you can feel the excitement of the music.
The only letdown, personally, is "Nightmare", an uneven addition to an otherwise solid collection of songs. Pat Green is one of those artists that is best heard live, and this live set from a few years back doesn't disappoint. Highly recommended. This CD is a perfect introduction to Pat Green and to the kind of music that packs them in all around the Lone Star state. Chock full of old favorites and standbys, Here We Go is my favorite collection of Pat's terrific brand of Texas music. Highlights are a rousing rendition of "George's Bar", a heartfelt "Songs About Texas", and the coup de grace is the title track to close the set.
He sends you through damn near all the human emotions possible. With the re-introduction of "Nightmare," also on "Live at Billy Bob's," this album is just very complete. As he picks you up with "I Like Texas," he slowly brings you down to Earth for his great performance of "If I Had A Million." This CD is awesome. This is an awesome album. Pat Green live, what is better.
This is a great CD if you are tired of "Nashville" country radio. You can't beat Pat Green.
